Have you been stopped?
My understanding was as long as the bottle was neither alcoholic or
opened they let you in with it.
I know you can bring in your own peanuts. I can't imagine they would
stop you with a sub.

I've seen families with coolers.

I dont know what the GABP rules are, but i too remember seeing coolers
going into riverfront. When i went to Padres games i would usually run
over to a nearby subway and get a footlong with cookies(!) and
beverage. Saves some money.
Of course, every bag gets checked nowaday thanks to 9/11. But i've
never been turned away because of my sandwich.

The food i would typically buy at the park would be a specialty item.
For instance, at petco you could get various types of warmed sugary
nuts, like almonds, cashews etc.

Now, in Goodyear i did pay for ballpark grub and beer, but hey, it was
vacation.

I don't mind pitching to Pujols, these guys still make out 7 out of 10
times up. There are certain situations when you don't pitch to him and
outs and runners on base would constitute when and how to pitch him..

Did anybody like pitching to him in the first inning with two out and
nobody on? I would have given him a pass then.

As far as Harang topping out at 94. I don't like that with Mr. A., I
prefer Harang in the low 90s with movement. His ball tends to flatten
out when he gets to 94 or 95.

In regard to looking at positives, I really can't see that in an 11-6
loss with 2 add on runs in the ninth that were meaningless. If you are a
Reds player, you have to stop looking for silver linings in blow out
losses. Just put the game behind you, it's one game. If your going to
contend, you are going to have to start playing like one and not concede
these guys are real good and it was satisfying to hang with them for 7
innings.

We are probably over analyzing this one game because we haven't seen a
real game in quite awhile.

As far as being pessimistic Tom, that is just my nature. I have numerous
health issues tha never seem to resolve and I just might express my
venting through other avenues. Don't take my criticisms to heart. After
all I am basically criticizing the team and not you personally..

I hope they can rebound and win the next two games.. We shall see. I
assume Arroyo is next? Who gets the 3rd nod Bailey or Cueto? Will Leake
be skipped until their is no day off? I assume that is why that reliever
I never heard of is on the team? Is Leake on the roster yet? They will
probably activate him when they decide to use a fifth starter?

Well, with Pujols its more like he makes an out 5 times out of 9.

7 out of 10 would be Taveras.

Thats the time to pitch to him imo. Remember, Holiday is up next.

Well. the scouting report on harang the past couple seasons has been
that his velocity is down. If he's regained it, then i have to think
he's closer to where he was in 06-07. If his pitches look flat then
that might be an indicator that something else is wrong. But velocity
really only becomes a problem when the pitcher can locate the pitches.

I'm quite excited about the state of Reds starting pitching. If
Volquez were healthy i'd be doing cartwheels.

I was going to mention in one of the other threads about Verlander's Opening Day
results - four runs in five innings the same as Harang's outing. Except that
Harang was facing last year's division winners while Verlander's outing happened
against the Royals.
