Nux needs your help! Joe Nuxhall is running a distant third in the
online fan voting to be a nominee for the Ford C. Frick Award, the
Baseball Hall of Fame annual honor for a current/past broadcaster. In
the past two years, Nux has been the top online vote-getter by a wide
margin. This year he’s a distant third (5% today) behind two
Canadians, former Toronto Blue Jays announcer Tom Cheek (45%) who
died in 2005 and former Montreal Expos announcer Jaques Doucet (35%).

The top three online nominees will be added to 7 other names, and then
a 20-person panel (the living Frick winners, including Marty
Brennaman, and some baseball historians) will pick the winner.
Obviously the past two years the HOF Frick committee voters ignored
the fans’ top choice (Nux), but Reds fans should make sure Nux makes
the list again. In past years, people could vote once a day. That’s
what I’ve done this year too…

Voting ends Dec. 31. This year, the HOF is doing it as a Facebook
poll, so you have to have a Facebook account and be logged in to
vote. Here’s a link to the Frick Award info at the HOF, or Facebook
members can go straight to the ballot. There are 212 names on the list
— everyone! — including Thom Brennaman, Chris Welsh, George Grande and
Waite Hoyt.

Don’t forget to vote for Nux!
