Should be fined for not covering 1st base. Pitchers and 1st basemen work a
lot in spring training on covering 1st. How can the pitcher not remember to
get over there. Plain lazy.

he runs slow
he covered the base but just not in time.
after the pitch he is well out of position and he takes a while to get
going.

Yes, and the runner was fast. Still, he should have gotten a better

hesitation != laziness. poor judgement, perhaps. but you're implying
motives which likely aren't there.
