time to make a trade for a bullpen arm. we have plenty of young talent
in the minors to deal. and are bullpen has cost the reds to many games
this season. it is a glaring weakness that needs to be addressed.

I would agree they need a closer. He has been very very shaky, even when
he gets the save. This isn't a knee jerk reaction either. I lobbied last
year for them to get rid of Harang and Cordero and I said keep Arroyo.
Rhodes has been the only lights out guy all year down there and he is
very old. You start overusing him and that is only going to bring his
performance down as well.

Cordero is SECOND IN THE LEAGUE in saves. If Laynce Nix isn't out
there playing volleyball with the bases loaded, he saves today's
game. This bullpen is shaky because Nick Masset is pitching horribly
and innings are going to guys like Ondrusek and Fisher. Cordero is
not the problem.

I disagree, I believe the ball was going to leave the ball park
regardless. Nix leaped at the last second and I believe the ball would
have been at the very least off the top of the wall, if not gone
altogether. Save stats are very nice but when you come out and
constantly put runners on base every time you go out there, it's not a
good sign. Today he just gave up the homerun. Cordero may not be the
only problem but he definitely is a problem. The bullpen besides Rhodes
has been nothing to write home about.

I think Mr.Masset has been very good in the last 3 weeks except for the
hit last night and the walk today. His ERA might not show it but he was
pitching well. The Braves broadcasters remarked that the Reds people had
told them, Rhodes and Massett have been very good during the recent
upsurge and Cordero had been so so at best. So somebody besides me can
see how Mr. Cordero has been performing lately....

"Laynce Nix thought he had it. The ball hit in his glove. The batter,
Brooks Conrad, had turned to go back in the dugout. But the ball
bounced out of Nix’s glove and into the seats for a walk-off grand
slam."
