I don't consider myself a "fan" of any team, because I'm not fanatical
about baseball. I played the game when I was young and have watched
it on and off over the years. If you watch every minute of every Mets
game, I fear for your sanity, Ruben, seriously. One thing you seem
unwilling to address is how this team can get any better than it is
now, or do you just keep watching every minute, no matter how bad they
are? I would agree to keeping Wright and Reyes, if I knew the
ownership was committed to a better manager (who can get the team to
go into a game with a specific plan) as well as spending money when it
seemed warranted. The fact that they kept Jerry for so long (after he
promised the team would be fundamentally sound during the 2009
preseason period) demonstrates to me that there are such serious
underlying problems that there is basically no hope for them at this
point. They tried "mix and match," as you phrased it, and that is
clearly a failure, though perhaps it was done to please Mike F.
Because I don't believe they are going to "get serious" about winning,
what is the point to keeping these players? At some point, the fans
are going to stop coming to the games, with or without Wright and
Reyes (as they did at the end of last season, for example). Even an
owner who knows nothing about baseball would know that if fans aren't
coming to the game, and you can get young, cheap players for some of
the players on your team, it only makes sense to make the trades.
It's basic logic, Ruben - why not try it some time?

Nah, he's just a clueless Francesa dupe who thinks he's being clever
by regurgitating his talking points here.

I think we need another chorus of my "Francesa Loves Me" song:

"David Wright sucks, this I know,
'cause Mike Francesa tells me so.
In the clutch, we know he is not strong,
'cause Mike Francesa's never wrong.
In September, Reyes is a bust,
so says dear Mike, and in Mike I trust.
Both of these players, Mike says they need to leave,
and whatever Mike says, I believe."

I said get rid of Reyes two years ago. As usual, I have been proven
correct.

Mets fans are too obsessed with having home grown "stars". That's
because Mets fans are obsessed with the Yankees- and what the Yankees
have.

It's also why they desperately want to think their "stars" are better
than they really are. I have been proven correct about that, as
well.
