Actually, much of the time people only think he's mispronouncing the
names, because he doesn't just automatically pronounce them like
everyone else. This is particularly the case with Hispanic names, which
are often mispronounced by others, but Miller pronounces them properly.
Also, in this case, again, he ASKED Betemit how to pronounce his name.

I've heard that claim before and I'm skeptical of it. Am I to believe
Miller's pronunciation of names is somehow better than the announcers
that follow the team around for all 162 games each season? Yeah,
Miller may have asked, that still doesn't mean he got it right.

First of all, nothing coming from the likes of Joe Simpson and Don
Sutton would surprise me. And while I liked Skip, I think he was
generally pretty lazy.

Second, I can't think of a theory in which he would bring up and talk
about Benemit's name in such a manner, only to get it completely wrong.
I mean, he made a fairly big deal out of it, considering it's just a name.

Third, I took enough Spanish to generally know how most words and names
are pronounced. It's a much more simple language than English, in that
that vowels are pronounced a specific way, and don't change from word to
word.

The perfect example was Eddie Perez, which he pronounced correctly,
though got ripped because everyone else pronounced it different. Though
in fairness, the Americanized pronunciation is pretty well accepted...
at least by Americans.

Tarkus, why are you a Braves fan in Baseball but a Chiefs fan in
Football? Are you an Indian and only root for teams with Indian names?
