The Phillies just put Chase Utley and Placido Polanco on the DL this
afternoon. Just watch the Phils' second-stringers drop a dozen runs
on Leake tonight, just to prove me wrong :P

Bad break for the Phillies, I always want to face the other teams best,
but hey I'll take it. This should benefit the Reds in Philly next week
more.

I always believed the rally around the team and us against the world
thing can be beneficial short term but in the long run injuries usually
catch up to you. Especially losing quality guys like Utley and the other
guy was having a great year as well.

But,hey luck plays an important part in winning a division too...

Way to jinx it. Although, if Rolen doesn't sit they probably win it.
Saving him for Halladay is moronic when you have a good shot to pound
Blanton and win the series before even having to face Halladay.

I said the Phils would hit Leake for 12 runs but they only got him for
6, so that's a half-jinx at worst ;)

Leake's just been an average pitcher in July. I wonder if the league
has caught up to him or if he's just returning to Earth after an
incredibly hot start. Glad to have him, but it's more and more
apparent that the team is going to need a heroic return from Edinson
Volquez to compete through the summer.

I wonder if the gaps between Leakes starts are begatively affecting
his command of his pitches. I wonder how much they have him throwing
between starts. I suspect its severely limited.

Leake might be one of these guys that actually needs to pitch more
often, not less.

This is all sheer speculation on my part.
