From: John Kasupski on 7 May 2010 18:29 This evening, the reds open a three-game series against the Cubs, who were swept by the Pirates this week (sound familiar?) and are at 13-16. The lineups follow. SCRUBS Theriot, 2b Fukudome, rf Lee, 1b Byrd, cf Ramirez, eb Soriano, lf Soto, c castro, ss Silva, p REDS Cabrera, ss Phillips, 2b Vooto, 1b Rolen, 3b Bruce, rf Gomes, lf Stubbs, cf Hernandez, c Bailey, p Silva is hot off his worst outing of the year, giving up five runs on eight hits, including three homers, in five innings of work against the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Bailey is coming off a quality start in which he held the Cardinals to three runs (two earned) in 6-2/3 innings, also on Saturday. This is a rematch of the Reds-Cubs game on April 9, which the Reds won, 5-4, by torching Cubs reliever Esmailin Caridad for four runs in the eighth after Silva had held them to one run and three hits in six innings. Bailey gave up three runsd in five innings in that game. Silva is also battling a sore right wrist, and in fact Piniella was originally going to push his start to tomorrow, but here he is, pitching in his regular spot in the rotation instead. That probably means the remaining mound matchups for the series will be Gorzelanny against Harang tomorrow and Dempster vs. Leake on Sunday. JK
From: john smith on 7 May 2010 21:06 I almost thought Stubbs was back at the leadoff spot when I saw Scrubs atop the lineup, albeit it was the Cubs lineup. Glad to see Scrubs at the bottom of Red's lineup tonight.
