What are the odds of this statistic? Two third basemen HOFERS that play
basically side by side for their careers and are perennial all- stars.

Career RBIS:

George Brett 1595
Mike Schmidt 1595

Well, even better is that Schmidt and Brett were consecutive draft picks
in the 2nd round in 1971.

Yeah, but don't forget who some of the guys were who ended up playing for the
Reds in the 70's and 80's instead. Tony Perez played some 3B - and was the
starter at 3B in the ASG in 1970 - before moving to 1B, and he's in the HOF.
Pete Rose played some 3B and has HOF numbers. Dave Concepcion was at short and
IMHO belongs in the HOF, and after him came Barry Larkin. Buddy Bell was no
slouch either. It's not like the Reds had Brandon Larson and Kurt Stillwell out
there the whole time. They also beat Schmidt and the Phillies in the 1976 NLCS,
then in the WS swept the Yankees who beat Brett and the Royals in the ALCS.

Overall, I'll take those results.

JK
