I remember in 1992 Tim Belcher had retired 23 Mets in a row, until Lou replaced him with Dibble, and he blew a 4-1 lead when Bonilla hit a walk-off to win 5-4...I think that was the beginning of the end for Lou... In case you were wondering, this is believed to be the first walk- off GS ever given up by the Reds EVER. Yes, EVER. Since 1869! From: john smith on 20 May 2010 16:40 Correction, it was a 6 run lead, heck I don't know. The Braves scored a whole bunch of runs in the ninth inning. The funny thing is I think Cox believed the game was over a couple innings earlier when he took some regulars out. Oh Chuck you are right about this Cordero, he has made me sick every time he has walked out there in the last 3 weeks. Maybe the Phillies will bite on this guy with Lidge and the other guy out. I have zero confidence in Mr. Cordero. It is never easy, he pitches like Stormy Weathers, away, away, away despite that he has a fastball that can hit 96 or 97. Coco pitches scared, not a trait you like in a closer.

Two runs score on a Cabrera error, the middle relievers give up six runs, and Layne Nix bounces a fly ball off his glove and over the wall for the game-winning run. And yet, once again, the guy you complain about is Francisco Cordero.

And yet, once again, the guy you complain about is Francisco Cordero. What did he do? Pitch to one hitter? I missed the game but it looks like Dusty stayed with Lincoln for 4 hitters -- all reaching to start the 9th -- then went to Masset who got nobody out (thanks to an error) - before going to Rhodes who got his guy -- then Coco -- so sure -- it is Coco's fault..... I'm still scratching my head over why Lincoln was allowed to let 4 guys on in the inning -- but I often don't like Baker's moves -- so maybe it is me & my bias again... |
