First of all, he already had 2 scoreless innings out of Lincoln, but
decided to push it and go for 3. Meanwhile, he had nobody warming up
just in case. In addition, he didn't put his best defense on the
field. Slick fielding Paul Janish was still on the bench with Cabrera
at SS and Cairo at 3B. Both of these guys had double play balls hit
at them in the 9th and botched them. I doubt that happens if Janish
is in there. He brought in Masset after Lincoln and he couldn't get
anyone out. Then he had Rhodes strike out Heyward and decided he had
to take him out and go to Cordero. Why else? Because he's the closer
and that's what he gets paid to do, and oh we wanted to get him the
save too. I thought it was a poorly managed 9th inning.
