Next: bats silent again.
From: john smith on 9 Jul 2010 22:10 Mike Leake was sailing along on a low pitch count but hasn't pitched particularly well in his past few starts. I understand letting him start the ninth with a 7-1 lead. But you know my feeling on young pitchers, I always say let them leave on a positive note. It didn't happen , a few hits and a home run later the Reds were up 7-5 and Baker went to that old reliable closer Cocomatic. You know the story, two run homer and the game is tied. Cordero is not a problem, he is a special pitcher. Just a little unlucky tonight. Danm that Cordero always is out there with the wind blowing out.....

The game was tied in the 10th and he blew it worse than Coco did - King Arthur didn't record a single out. Where's your scorn for him?
From: john smith on 9 Jul 2010 23:11 The ninth and the tenth inning dramatics aside. The Reds left runners all over the place tonight. I kept saying to myself, the failure to break this game open was going to bite them in the a$$ at some point. However when they pushed that seventh run across in the top of the ninth, I did breathe a sigh of relief. What followed was just plain crazy. This loss is so bad that it leaves you speechless. Now with the Phillies two best pitchers facing a couple of inexperienced guys in the next two games it looks bleak. The road trip that started out well and continued nicely in New York has been derailed. Derailed by a Phillies team that just got out of the emergency room and who barely have a pulse. The Reds just might have salvaged the Phillies season tonight. Because with their current injuries as of late, losing 3/4 to the Reds could have put them in a big hole with too many teams too leap-frog. I am huge baseball fan and Red's fan. I watch almost every single inning of every single Red's game. But this loss is just plain ridiculous. I sincerely doubt I will watch the next game. Oh and Jay Bruce.... In regard to the the strike zone, you are clueless... It is getting old again....
From: john smith on 9 Jul 2010 23:19 Oh Tom, if you thought the Reds were going to win that game after the way the Phillies tied it, I have a few bridges to sell you. As for Rhodes I am more apt to forgive a guy who doesn't give me an ulcer every time he takes the mound. That is just common sense. To compare Rhodes one or two mini bumps with the ongoing saga of As The Coco Turns is ridiculous. Cordero no longer has closer's stuff. It has been obvious for the last two months or more. The Reds will not win a division with Francisco Cordero as a closer. I stand by my conviction....

Instead, I want to do is applaud your insight. Bitching about Cordero, even though he didn't lose the game, that's old reliable John Smith! He's a special poster who knows that every Reds defeat is a major crisis, that every Aaron Harang start is a guaranteed disaster and that every Cordero appearance will be the one that costs the Reds the pennant. Now that the Reds have lost two straight, what do you think we're in for? The Phillies are probably going to win 110 games now that Cincinnati has saved their season, right? And the Reds, they're clearly toast. Like how you said they wouldn't bounce back from the Atlanta disaster, or from the Seattle sweep... This is at least the third major disaster of the season, as pied piper Cordero leads them to certain defeat... It's a wonder we all even bother to tune in, what with the outcome so apparent. Nick Masset for closer, Aaron Harang for dog catcher, and God bless the Reds! |
