Nonononono. If you think the Reds getting rid of Taveras rocked, imagine the malicious satisfaction you will experience from seeing a division rival pick him up. Just kick back and watch the Astros sign him! Oh, the hilarity... JK
From: john smith on 9 Feb 2010 22:54 Willy T predicted a possible 100 SB's. Did he even make it to first 100 times? How many times did he hit the ball to the left of second base? How many bad jumps did he get on balls? I guess Willy might head to Japan now..

I don't know - but I do know that his BA was .410 when he pulled the ball, .242 when he hit it up the middle, and .245 when he hit to the opposite field - so if anything he should have pulled it even more often. >How many bad jumps did he get on balls? Yeah, some of his routes did look like the little kid in the Family Circle cartoons, didn't they? >I guess Willy might head to Japan now.. I tell you again, I think he's going to wind up back in Houston, watch and see what happens. I'd almost bet money on this and I never bet on sports. One of the Houston assistant GMs was reportedly on the phone to Taveras's agent, David Gottfried, shortly after Taveras was released, but they have to wait for Taveras to clear waivers before they can proceed. He'll get a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. If he makes the MLB roster, he will cost the 'Strohs league minimum, Billy The Genius will be on the hook for the rest of his $4 million salary, and I'll be laughing my you-know-what off. JK

Not what I have from billjamesonline.net They give .337 to left, .279 up the middle and .192 to right and .314 on bunts. The stunning split is the .081 BA on flyballs. 9-113 with 2 doubles, a triple and a home run. He's never hit a lick on flyballs though. Career .135 hitter. 36% of his balls in play last year were flyballs and that's just too high for a guy whose flyballs are outs. He's a career .533 hitter on bunts. He's also slowed down some. If he can't beat out a ton of bunt hits (he had 110 from 2004-2008) he simply can't play. > > >How many bad jumps did he get on balls? > > Yeah, some of his routes did look like the little kid in the Family Circle > cartoons, didn't they? > > >I guess Willy might head to Japan now.. > > I tell you again, I think he's going to wind up back in Houston, watch and see > what happens. Billy still has to pay. The only way he gets out of it is if somebody actually claims Taveras. And I can't see why anybody would. The only problem with the Taveras to Houston story is that they have Michael Bourne. Who played pretty well last year. Though his career through 2008 looks a lot like Taveras' 2009. Pretty reasonable chance of a train wreck in CF in Houston.
