Why would her life be likened to a Greek tragedy? It's not like she was Pete, fatal flaw, Rose. -- Will in New Haven

Another child suffered brain damage when his baby carriage was hit by a passing vehicle. While pregnant with another child, Neal suffered a stroke/aneurysm before the age of 40 which is a fairly rare occurrence. She suffered partial paralysis and blindness for some time after the injury. I know that plenty of people have had more difficulties in their lives, but I think she had enough serious setbacks to earn the Greek tragedy comparison.

She had lots of setbacks but they weren't caused by a flaw in her own character, at least no one has _said_ they were. Greek tragedies were about great people, which she was, with fatal flaws. Some of those flaws, such as the one that doomed Oedipus, were not what a modern would call the person's own _fault_ or even something we would call a character flaw but the flaw was always there. I think she was a great actress and a courageous human being who had unfortunate things happen to her. -- Will in New Haven Pete Rose will not get into the Hall of Fame until he is dead.
