I'll always remember a piece I read in the P-D back in the 80s when
the Cardinals had about 19 announcers between radio, broadcast TV and
cable TV. The writer was going down the list of pairings and ended it
with, "... and the foriegn- language team of Mike Shannon and Lou
Brock."

Good times, good times.

KMOX used to air a banquet (sponsored?) by the "Knights of the
Caulifloured Ear" which was a combination celebration of each
of the St. Louis sports teams accomplishments.

There were lots of jokes and sketches, but one most memorable was
giving Mike Shannon the "most improved broadcaster award for the
unprecedented 11th year in a row!"
