From: Kommienezuspadt on 19 Feb 2010 10:26 Catchers and Pitchers have reported! I took care of the team questions at the end of the year last year. I'll try and do the position questions during spring training. This is at the end of the question list. Do Dusty and Walt keep their jobs? Kevin said no. I thought Dusty would be fired. The reds went against type and kept management intact for the whole year. That's what everybody else thought would happen. I asked what question did I leave out.... John asked which of the starting 8 is most likely to be traded and correctly pointed out EE. Tuff Gong asked who would have more errors at first Joey Votto or Adam Dunn. The answer was 10-8 with Votto coming in first by putting in almost double the innings that the big donkey turned in as a first baseman. Chuck asked if Dusty could find another deadbeat like Cory Patterson .....In retrospect, that's damn brilliant. Taverable is now gone and it's tough to believe it happened. Kommienezuspadt asked how much alcohol I would consume during the season and I'm comfortable announcing the answer was "not enough." Will Vaughan asked if the reds would be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. ....That's actually kind of a tough question to answer in retrospect, they were clearly out of the race, but they brought in Scott Rolen looking for the future. Dan Szymborski asked if the reds would finish with higher ERA+ or a higher OPS+. I responded at the time that I couldn't imagine a universe where the reds would finish the year with a higher OPS+ and.....wow. The whole notion of OPS+ and ERA+ is that 100 is average and high is good/low is bad. The reds finished the season with an ERA+ of 102, a bit better than league average. The offense,....wow, I knew it was bad....the offense finished with an OPS+ of 86. That's ....It's Taverable folks. RJA asked...now that Dunn and Junior are gone, who is the new whipping boy? I guess you could pick out EE. Philips gets a lot of grief. Bruce certainly drew his share of heat. Kevin asked If you chose to dump the Reds, for what team would you root? I didn't answer, but y'all know I've stayed through Ray Knight so, I'm not going anywhere. dfs __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4880 (20100219) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
