"During his first four full seasons in the Majors, McCann retired just 23 percent (91-of-400) of the opponents who attempted to steal bases against him. This year, the five-time All-Star catcher has proven successful against 31 percent (21-of-67). St. Louis' Yadier Molina (.476), Colorado's Miguel Olivo (.438) and Los Angeles' Russell Martin (.379) are the only qualified National League catchers who have proven to be more successful this year." http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100721&content_id=12484192¬ebook_id=12484196&vkey=notebook_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl&partnerId=rss_atl

He did make a good throw tonight, but then made up for it by missing the tag out at the plate to save the game. -- Cranial Crusader dgh 1138 at bell south point net

He's never going to be a great defensive catcher, but I think he's at least adequate, and much better than Javy Lopez ever was, especially in actually catching the ball.
