Joe starts jonesing for a couple double cheeseburgers by the fifth
inning--it's cruel. The Sox and Yankees are making it hard for West to
keep his weight up. I'll tell you what is embarrassing: letting
anyone as FAT as Joe West be an umpire. That is an embarrassment to
baseball--to ANY athletic organization. His crew is one of the worst
in baseball, a joke. Angel Hernandez is a complete hack. Baseball
needs to clean up their act, and they need to start with West.

P;us West is a glory hog too. Never met a contrversy he didn't love.
And as one who firmly believes the old adage 'you know an umpire did a
good job when it occurs to you that yyou don't know who he was' I
despise his actions. It's Joe West who is the embarassment.

What about the fans - don't they have a say in this ? If the Sox or
Yankee fans don't like it they can stay away. By piling through the
gates they show approval. It's none of West's business. He gets paid
by the game - not by the hour. But if he is in a hurry he could quit
and get a job at a fast food place - or a Quick Stop oil change place
- or something of that nature. And I agree that it is embarrassing to
see obese umpires on the field. I've mentioned that a few times in the
past few years.
