From: Dano on 31 Jul 2010 15:05 A caller to The Baseball Show (from Alaska no less) brought up a topic I had considered a while back. Since there is no market for Lowell, why not see what could be gotten for Beltre. Good chance he won't return anyway. I would like to see a real roll of the dice. Shake this up big time. No idea what kind of offers they would get, but it would be a blockbuster for sure.

Nothing Beltre has done this year has lowered his value.

The problem is there are not too many suitors, most teams in the pennant races have pretty good, if not star 3rd basemen: Like NYY, Tampa, Texas, Philly, SF, LAD, etc. Two possibilties had 3rd base needs they already addressed being Detroit (Peralta) and San Diego (Tejada). The are basically 3 teams left in the race I came up with that have a prounounced need for a 3B; Chicago (AL), Minnesota, and St Louis. Unless I am missing someone.
