This guy Cabrera can't make the play in the hole but he can hit homeruns
on fastballs near his chin. Weird player.

Joey Votto better start to learn how to be more decisive defensively.
His botched play in the ninth inning would have cost them the game if
Cody Ross didn't swing at ball four. Votto has to know, you get that
second out no matter what in the ninth inning. You don't even look at
second base on that ball. Just run to first and get the second out. He
has amazing trouble throwing to pitchers covering first base.

Another sloppy win. Positives Bruce 2 hits and Lincoln almost 2 innings
of non disaster work. Massett's ball was moving well topping out at 96.
Rolen 2 bombs and the bloop game winner.

In addition to Rolen's unexpected power, it is a pleasure to watch him
play defense. At least now we don't have to hold our breath every time a
throw is uncorked from third base..

Average .207. OBP .200.

Masset was looking at 2nd base when he got to the bag. Votto saw him
looking elsewhere and didn't make the flip. Masset assumed that Votto
made the throw to 2nd and was waiting for the return. A flip to a guy
who isn't looking probably wouldn't have gone well.

That trade for Rolen is starting to make more sense with the pitching
depth. Zack Stewart may be good, but expendible. Edwin is off to his
usual horrible start, hitting .200/.267/.400.

Rolen is off to a good start. Why, it's almost as if he makes more
sense in the four hole than Babe Phillips!

Move Phillips to 2nd and tell him his new job is to get on base and do
all those winning things that second hitters allegedly do. Cabrera
can bat 8th.

Dickerson
Phillips
Votto
Rolen
Bruce
Hernandez
Stubbs
Cabrera

I like that one.

Stubbs
Phillips
Votto
Rolen
Bruce
Gomes
Hernandez
Cabrera

Works against lefties.
