We saw Phillips numbers against lefties and they are great, while Rolen, at this stage of his career appears to have most of his value in his OBP skills. yeah, theres the speed thing. Are folks worried that Rolen will be clogging the basepaths. Well, obviously Dusty is.

If cabrera is going to be dropped to 8th, then they might as well just start Janish. Bringing in a guy for his offensive ability and then batting him 8th doesnt make all that much sense. Obviously, all this is moot. Dusty aint going to do this. > > Dickerson > Phillips > Votto > Rolen > Bruce > Hernandez > Stubbs > Cabrera

I guess it depends on how unselfish he can be. He's no Barry Larkin in that respect. He has shown that he can hit the other way, and maybe he'd be more patient in a different role. If nothing else, he has walked twice this year and Cabrera has yet to draw one. In fact, Cabrera's OBP is lower than his batting average! > If cabrera is going to be dropped to 8th, then they might as well just > start Janish. He's still a better hitter than Janish no matter where you put him, but he looks slow in the field. There was an inning last night where 2 or 3 balls were hit his way that I think a good SS would have gotten to. They all went for singles and led to the plating of some runs.

They all went for singles and led to the plating of some runs.- Hide quoted text - > > - Show quoted text - I was going to ask about that because i wasnt able to watch the game but did listen on the radio and I can recall at least 1 instance where the broadcaster implied that the ball just made it past cabrera. Were you able to watch the game. Did you see 2 or 3 balls go for hits that Janish probably gets to? I wish there were a website where i could watch every ball hit to the shortstop zone while cabrera is there and judge for myself whether a good fielder would have gotten to it. For those who are believers in zone ratings etc, i believe that Cabrera was ranked last in the majors last year by a wide margin. A long fall for a former gold glover. Janish was ranked near the top. Cabrera has led the American league in outs made the past 2 seasons. lets bat him 2nd!!! |
