Yeah, that about sums it up.
He's a 26-year old lefthanded hitting outfielder from Somerset, KY who was
drafted in the fourth round of the 2003 draft by the Astros out of Eastern
Kentucky University, where hwe was the Ohio Valley Conference MVP in 2003 that
year in NCAA competition. He ascended the Astro's minor league chain somewhat
quickly, to hit the bigs in 2005, and has now played parts of three seasons in
the majors with the Astros, Braves, Tigers, and Royals. He stole 30+ bases four
times in the minors, but his major league OBP last year was .276, just one point
better than what Willy Taveras put up. He didn't do anywhere near as well in the
AL as he had done in the NL previously.
Odds are he'll put up some decent BA and SB numbers in Louisville, get called up
to the reds at some point if a couple guys get hurt, and...I dunno, probably
proceed to stink up the joint. Or he could come into his own as a hitter and
turn into the next Brett Butler, which would be fine with me and, I'm sure, fine
with the Reds...but I'm not holding my breath. It's more likely we have a
lefty-hitting Taveras, or Darnell McDonald with less power and better wheels.

Sorry - he's swiped 30+ bases in the minors five times. I missed his 2008 season
