So Dad came over to watch Strasburg pitch. After five innings we were
both disappointed -- not so much that he'd had a "bad" outing (2 ERs),
but that the Nationals had once again failed to provide any run support
at all. In his last 4 starts (24.1 innings) they have given him a total
of one run. That has to be some kind of record.

Bottom of the 7th we argued over Gonzalez hitting for Storen; he thought
Storen should stay in because he was pitching well, while I thought we
needed the runs. Top of the 8th proved him right, I guess.

After the bottom of the 8th we agreed that there was no point watching
the rest. He went back to the farm, I went to Wal-mart to pick up some
groceries. But when I returned home, somehow the game was still going...
I got to see Zimmerman walk, Dunn tie it, and Pudge win it.

A great win like that makes up for a lot of ugly losses, IMO.

But my situation is not entirely desperate. The Flatlanders are, I
have learned, edible, with a taste something like very moist smoked
salmon. It takes quite a few of them to make a meal, but they are
plentiful, and they are easy to catch. - Rudy Rucker

That was awesome! We had those cushy seats behind home plate,
courtesy STH "rewards points". What a game for being there! We
really lucked out in choosing this game back in April. I pity the
fools who left before the 9th inning. The only games that come close
to this at Nats Park so far are Zim's walkoff in the stadium opener,
and SS's debut last month.

It's really something to see SS's curve break from 8 rows behind home
plate.

I turned it off then as well. I was glad that the Nats cleared the L
from SS record, but the offense was so dead, I could not keep
predending to have hope. Glad I was wrong.

Actually, I was glad to see Strasburg. No pitcher has all his stuff
every game. The great ones quickly figure out what is working and what
is not, and keep their team in the hunt using the ones that worked.
That was my favorite part of watching young Mike Mussina as an O's
fan. Strasburg may have that adaptability, and if so, I'm even more
impressed.

I don't believe it!! You put all that $$ out for tickets & you don't
stay 'till the end of the game!!!!! That government job you have must
pay real well! ;-) As Yogi said, "It ain't over......." Oh, Ye of
little faith!

We (My brother, nephew & I) were in Section 105 front row in LF & all
swore Dunn's smash hit off the top of the CF fence!!! Shoulda been a
walkoff Grand Slam!! And I loved how the Mets employed TOO MUCH
stategy afterwards (bringing in Bay to play infield)& that it
backfired on them! No guts not pitching to Josh & then Pudge just
looping the winning hit to RF!!

One of the BEST Baseball games I've EVER Attended!!! I'm still hoarse
from cheering!!!

You have to wear a Scarlet letter for leaving a Nats game before it
wuz over & going to Wal-Mart of all places!!!! Hnag your head in
shame!!!!

No no, we were watching it on TV. Obviously if you have tickets you stay
to the bitter end even if its 15-0.
