Hi. The idea that any person no matter what line of
work can claim to be insulted by a 15 million a year offer is beyond
bizarre. Not to preach but Mother Theresa tended to the Leprosy infected
in Calcutta for soup & crackers. Owners need to insist on a salary cap
that can be increased after every contract cycle & say if the union
strikes go ahead & call me on my yacht when you're ready to play.
Be well all.

Then what is the plan?

It can't be play the kids.....there aren't any. There isn't a single
prospect over 20 years old that I would consider an impact player.

If top tier free agents are deemed not worth the cost ....(and I don't
necessarily disagree with that)....then how do you improve a veteran
lineup?

Trading for star players who are becoming to expensive for small
market team just leads us back to the problem of not having 'major
league ready' minor league talent.

So what is the plan? To pay players with diminishing skills to play
for other teams?

The biggest problem I see is that this gets even worse next year when
Ortiz, Martinez and Beckett (and maybe Lowell if he still around)
could all be gone.

Frankly the Beltres, Scutaros and a bunch of guys named Martinez will
only slow down the decline

2005, 2006....yeah they do think $$$ as both years reduced payroll
before the 2007 spike. They wont overpay Bay but as I said the Mets
and Angels will because frankly they both need him more. All I can see
is a short term deal with Dye and sign Lackey. Then you can try and
grab Adrian Gonzalez for Clay and Westmoreland. You'd end up with

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Gonzalez
Youk
Ortiz
Martinez
Drew
Dye
Scutaro

Lester
Beckett
Lackey
Dice-K
Wake

Papelbon
OKI DOKEY
Ramirez
Bard
Delcarmen (I guess)

That'll do it!
