Yeah. I wasn't the one who started the personal attacks. I did reply in kind,
and for that I apologize to the other members of this group who have been
sitting here watching from the bleachers. If this is a matter of credibility,
the fact that McClave stands alone with Jim Bowden of all people in opposition
to each and every one of the other 29 GMs in MLB tells you all that anyone
really needs to know about the subject. If it's a matter of who can come up with
the best insults, I cut my teeth debating on the old landline BBSes of the early
90's in the CIVLIB, RTKBA, and FIREARMS echoes on FidoNET, which wasn't
nicknamed Fight-O-Net without good reason, while McClave was still playing
professional student...so I'm pretty sure I'm going to win that one going away.

Either way, it's undoubtedly become a PITA for the other folks in here, and
since Dunn's not even a Red anymore, it's even pretty much off topic here. So as
of now, I'm dropping it. We now return you to our regularly scheduled program
about Cincinnati Reds baseball, already in progress.

I wouldnt call what you do here "debating".

The Reds have the worst offense in the league. I think Adam Dunn is
still a legit topic here.

Go into the wayback machine and have the reds re-up Adam for another year.
Does it make a difference?

They won't have the money to sign Mike Lincoln, The Virus or Arthur Rhodes
and probably to re-up stormy. Too bad so sad on the first two, but they
would have missed Rhodes and stormy. Without the two of them (and Lincoln)
they would have been forced to push Roenicke into the majors.

I would guess that the virus' playing time would have gone to Dickerson.
They probably would not have been able to sign Gomes and Niz with Dunn in
the fold.

I'm guessing 90 runs on offense. It may not be that much. He wouldn't have
given that many away with his glove, but it would have been painful to
watch.

Would it have pushed this ballclub any closer to contention? No. No, I don't
think so. There just wasn't/isn't enough talent here right now.

From my perspective, this argument isn't about Adam Dunn the player. It's
about the Reds making no attempt to replace his offense.

And this incident is just another symptom of the bigger problem with the
Cincinnati Reds. Then compound that with an owner who believes that the
2009 roster was a contender.
